HepBoat Onboarding

A checklist for bringing an existing server onto HepBoat.

You have a server with history - existing mods, an old bot's ban list, house rules. This is the order that works.

1. Access before anything

Add your staff to web: (dashboard) and levels: (commands) first, so nobody is locked out while you configure. See general configuration.

2. Foundation plugins

Enable infractions (with a mute_role), modlog (one channel subscribed to everything is a fine start), and utilities. Run a !ban/!unban on a test account and watch it land in the log.

3. Import your history

If you are coming from another bot and have infraction history, the infraction import guide covers bringing it in via the API so !infractions search knows about the past.

4. Filters, in shadow first

Configure censor and spam (Setup → Filters), and use the built-in simulator against real examples from your server before trusting them. If you enable image scanning, run it in shadow mode for a few days and read the detection log before switching to enforce.

5. Community features last

Levels, starboard, tags, custom commands - none of them are urgent, all of them are more fun to roll out once moderation is quietly working.

6. Tell your mods

Send them the moderator quick reference. The five commands in its first table cover 90% of real moderation.
